School Information

Many times the number one concern of families moving into the Chicago area is how good are the schools. Generally the schools in my area are well above the national average. This section will give you a good basis of comparison both locally and nationally as well as introduce you to some of the educational options available. Prior to real estate, I was an Educational Consultant for a major Chicago newspaper and have a good feel for the different opportunities available in Naperville, Aurora, Oswego, Yorkville, Geneva, Montgomery and throughout all of the Chicago area including DuPage, Kendall and Kane Counties.

If you have questions about the schools feel free to call me at 630-258-5805 or email me.

The four main questions people ask me
and where to find the answers:

Where are the schools and what towns do they cover?

Illinois school district boundaries don't always follow municipal boundaries so I have included a directory that has school district numbers by town. The Chicago area features a wide range of Catholic schools and Independent schools as well as an excellent Community College system.

How do the schools compare locally? and- How good are the schools?

How good schools are is really a subjective issue. Many people compare schools based on test scores and other demographics. The Illinois School Board of Education publishes School Profiles and Report Cards annually. For many this information will answer your questions.

What extracurricular Activities are available?

A good place to start answering this question is the bodies that govern sports and extracurricular activities.
Illinois Elementary School Association
Illinois High School Association

How do the schools compare nationally?

Answering the question of how schools compare nationally is very difficult. The two links that follow are fairly comprehensive. School Matters focuses on the parent point of view while School Data Direct has excellent statistics and demographics.
